Safety Features

Every new 2015 Volkswagen Passat is equipped with traction control, antilock disc brakes, stability control and rear-side curtain/front-side airbags. On upper trims, a rearview camera is included. Power and Performance

The standard engine is a 1.8L turbocharged I-4 that makes 170 horses for 184 ft-lbs of torque. S and Sport models get either an automatic 6-speed or a 5-speed manual transmission, while SEL Premium, SE and Wolfsburg model are available with the automatic only. Fuel numbers are 24 mpg city/36 mpg hwy/28 mpg combined with the automatic, 24 city/35 hwy/28 combined with the manual.

The TDI model (SEL Premium and SE only), has a 2.0L I-4 diesel engine capable of producing 150 horses/236 ft-lbs Tq. SE models can have either a manual 6-speed transmission or a DSG automated 6-speed manual. The SEL Premium comes only with the DSG transmission. Fuel numbers for the manual are 30 city/44 hwy/35 combined and 30/42/34 with the automatic. The most power engine in this lineup is the 3.6L V6, which puts out a huge 280 horses for 258 ft-lbs of torque. This engine is optional for SEL Premium models only, and is paired with the automated manual DSG transmission only. Fuel numbers for this big engine are 20 mpg city/28 mpg hwy/23 mpg in combined driving.
